MEDIUM ENSEMBLE

The Medium Ensemble is trombonist/composer Michael Nearpass' latest project. Michael's writing for the group seeks to combine the depth and color of modern jazz orchestration with the flexibility of a small combo. His compositional style is narrative while attempting to strike a balance between being highly orchestrated and allowing for individual improvisation and interpretation. The ensemble features some of Chicago's most inventive musicians, many of whom lead and perform with their own creative music collaborations.
